How to wipe Win 8 and Install Win 7 on a new laptop...???

    Hello
I bought a new laptop and unfortunately it came with Win 8 installed.
I'd like to wipe the hard drive, reformat it and Install windows 7.
The laptop does have a CD drive and I changed the bios so it will boot from there.

Now the trouble is that I no longer have my win 7 cd, I do have win 7 as an iso file.
How do make a bootable disk out of that?

    Thanks

depends on who the OEM is some allow you to drop to W7 others don't look in the W8 forum to see if yours is allowed automatically i know Asus doesn't allow it.
If your OEM doesn't you will need a W7 key

The laptop is an acer, but if I whip the HD, how can they prevent installing anything I want? Is there something in the bios?

The license key, product key, has to be correct one -- OEM married the mobo at the factory, MS blue DVD follows the user. Drivers, drivers, and more drivers -- that can give you lots of work hunting down the correct drivers from original manufacturers, installing said drivers after hopefully Windows 7 kinda sorta coughs up a desktop.

Before doing anything drastic, try out Start8 which will make 8 look and feel like 7. You'll also be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it hits RTM this summer.

Start8 which I use costs $4.99, Classic Shell which many people use is free. Both do an excellent job of giving you a good Start Menu like you are used to in Windows 7.

The earlier reference was to the Win7 Downgrade program which only applies to Windows 8 Professional, so if you don't have that you'd need to buy a Win7 license. There's one on sale today for $69 in Best deals of the day - Page 36 - Windows 7 Help Forums

Then you'd follow these steps to Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7, burn the ISO to DVD using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool then booting it as a UEFI device to delete all partitions, create and format new. If you plan to buy a different version than the ISO you have you can unlock all versions to choose the correct one using eicfg removal tool.

In addition look over these steps for getting and maintaining a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which compiles everything that works best.
