Blue screen installing Windows 7 from usb

    Hi,

I am trying to install Windows 7 on a HP laptop, but it will not work. After the setup loaded the files I get the blue screen. I put a new ram in the laptop and the harddrive worked on a other laptop. Also when I try to install the laptop with a dvd I still get the blue screen.

    Thanks in advance

Did you replace the ram before or after you got the blue screen?

Try tapping the ESC key at boot, choose Diagnostics to test the hardware.

If not test the hardware from Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

If hardware checks out then Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums

I did the harddisk test and it passed. The ram I placed I bought new.

The blue screen comes after the bar is full from: Loading windows files.

    Thanks in advance

Have you determined yet if you have EFI BIOS? It tells what to do if so.

Thank you for your help. But how can I see what type of bios I have if I can not boot windows?

The BIOS is not in Windows.

Tap the key given on first screen for BIOS setup to browse all tabs for UEFI, EFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS.
Report back settings choices for any of these. The navigation tools and explanatory text should be to the right on each.

    What I see is:
    InsydeH20

    Bios version: F. 17
    Bios vendor: Insyde

If you can't see a prompt for which key to press along edge of screen then post back your PC or mobo make and model.

You can also google it yourself for specs to see if it says its UEFI.
