I think that you might have got hold of the wrong end of the stick. We are enjoying testing the official W7 Beta release (build 7000), but we are sceptical of the download sources of these other builds, particularly since many of these sources are torrents, some of which are based in Russia and China. Should Microsoft choose to release one of these builds through the official channels, then I'm sure that people will consider it.
Ah right, well i trust my sources... maybe that is the difference.

I didn't just randomly download torrents or whatever, i searched the file with the same group of people i searched 6801 through to 7000 with and we all checked it out...

As i say you all seem scared, even if you did somehow end up with a bad copy that won't install or whatever who cares?? You all surely have build 7000 dvd, xp/vista/win2k discs as backup..

Im personally dual booting on pc and using 7022 as main os on laptop..

The build is offical as far as its been ms employees working on it, its not a build made by anyone else, it just hasn't been pulicly released.

Anyway i am bord of trying to explain why a build that is over four weeks newer than 7000 is better, its obvious...

Would you use xp sp2 when sp3 is out?? From the posts in these threads i am guessing YES *giggles*

I am also curious were any of you using the earlier leaked builds such as 6801, 6956 etc?? What is the difference now.. if you did not then i understand but it seems to me i am more enthusiastic about such things than many people here.

threw the new build on one of our two test laptops with mixed results....lap is toshiba satellite a200. installation straight forward, all drivers loaded with exception of turbo memory which did not function in build 7000 and will not use anyway so non issue.

virtual clone drive will not install properly under any level. windows messenger installs but faults out. system is generally responsive, cannot say if the speed is increased as per other reports, nothing visible without further testing from build 7000,

biggest issue for me then is system startup and shutdown. startup is significantly longer than with build 7000 both to desktop and to usable desktop. even worse is the shutdown routine. with wireless disabled prior to shutdown, the vista present issues of very long shutdown has reappeared. vista shutdown, all typical services running, no network diagnostics or engineering softwares requireing real time connectivity running at shutdown, toshiba flashcards running took approximately 4 minutes. windows 7 build same condition shutdown time 17 seconds. with the new build 7022 shutdown time is back to approximately 2 minutes 35 to 2 minutes 53 maximum trial (varies) condition identical to above, not good for a functional laptop, i'd probably go back to the hp pocket pc if i had to carry this around again which was what i used mostly with original vista install. syncing devices later.

the restart option did nothing, no indication that the system intended to respond at all (similar to respondse under vista) , full shut down as indicated performed as designed.

feedback reporting on this for me did not work either

for me, this one won't fly. back to build 7000 for the toshiba until another build or the release candidate down the road.

How strange, the feedback works fine on both my machines, and there is no way my boot time is anywhere near 1 minute let alone over 2???

Did virtual clone drive work in 7000? I know deamon tools has been giving problems, i personally been using ultraISO to create virtual drives in 7.

Still i maintain the build 7022>7000 i have non of your above mentioned issues and have been running three days now.. on two machines.

EDIT: oh also restart is working fine here, again on two totally seperate machines.??

Just out of interest is this the same .iso your using??:

@win7

virtual clone drive installed and ran perfectly under the 7000 build. in fact softwares ran so well that i've been using win7 for everything except financial softwares, even media center ran a charm, a hundred percent better than on vista. my other lap unfortunately is identical to this one with network design software differences only so no point trying on the other unit. i will throw this into a desktop at home tonight to see how it reacts to either an asus or abit based unit. all round not happy, don't see much point to having a disk install perfectly then spending an hour to bring up specific add on stuff one at a time. i hope that this leaked build is not indicative of the the progress towards a retail release, if nothing else win7 promised to look very good on older (these are 16 months or so old now) laps. i've been pretty optomistic to date, but this is cause for concern, but then it's a leaked build and not intended for general use.

I find it strange though, nobody else is saying about these issues and to me and everyone else who i spoke to we are all happy and its clear it is an improvement, until there are more people claiming issues i will trust my own machine/outlook.

Does your file give the hashs i posted above? We could be using totally different .iso's... it sounds like it from the issues your facing ;-/

yes to that, the sha1 hash sum checks identical

the only thing i can think is that i did not do a clean install this time, will give that a shot later using a clean drive.

******update*******
blew the partition away, formatted and performed a clean install of build 7022 (i would never normally perform anything else usually), virtual clone drive, windows live messenger, and feedback now all installed and functioning normally...go figure.

Upgrade not successful

i tried to upgrade build 7000 with build 7022. I got to the last step, 57% completed, then got the BSOD. When I rebooted, it rolled back to the 7000 install. It's pretty time-consuming doing complete installs, then installing my other programs, some of which have only a certain number of activations available. I'll probably just stick with this for a while. Anyone have success upgrading this way?

Ok this seems to be a problem everyone getting. What I found my end as a problem was that first if you use a graphics card and you also have onboard graphics just for the install remove graphics card and use onboard. Second if you have onboard HD Audio then turn it off in the bios before installing. This point id for upgrading only I think.
One more not..... Norton antivirus, any kind even the new 360 beta 3 version does not work under 7022 and will cause a crash of system during install. Norton are no longer supporting this beta under Windows 7 Beta although they will give some help if installed under 7000 build of windows.

Hope this helps
