Some form of malware runs with administrator rights on your computer without you knowing about it because you were not given the opportunity to approve it or not with UAC, then all havok runs amok on your computer.

Just that I suppose.

And that is gonna get past my nod32??

There was none of this in xp so why bother now.. if for some reason my anti-virus/security apps don't pick it up, i will simply reinstall my os if it goes totally wrong.

Unless there is any serious risk to hardware i don't care.

Since new forms of malware are created everyday and the security programs may not always have the latest threats available in their definition updates because of this, then yes malware can easily get past any security program if it is not aware of that type of malware yet.

It your choice of course though.

I see your point but unless its some kind of virus that starts increasing voltages/fsb/frequencies i am not to scared..

I have been using nod32 since 2.x, now using 4.x and have found they are pretty good when it comes to definition updates, though they do try blocking a few sites i use.

As Shawn has stated malware is constantly evolving. it is not only changing in it's methods of access but also in the payload it delivers - gone are the days when a virus used to "melt" the screen display, now they empty your bank account - and that can be more difficult to re-install

Then again if you run a decent anti malware system and don't visit dodgy sites you should be safe without the extra protection of UAC, on a Personal computer you have the personal choice, which is how it should be

Maybe i would be more cautious if i had any bank details or other sensitive data on my pc but i don't unless they wanna steal some movies/mp3s/games.

But yes i do see your point, my pc is just that, a personal computer. I would have everything set to high if it was a work machine.

Well if build 7000 is old data then what about the sp3 your dual booting with, now that is old data. Its not only old but also bland and lifeless. There is no difference between 7000 and 7022 that i would waste my bandwidth or time on. The next time for upgrade will be with RC1. In the meantime you have fun with the number 22 which I dont have, damn.

My xp is up to date as far as possible to this month.

If you don't want to install 7022 that is fine, i personally wanted the months worth of bug fixes
