Can't reinstall windows 7 on dual boot with XP
I did a dual boot install of Win7 and XP on separate HDDs. Plugged in one drive installed XP with F6 AHCI drivers. Then plugged in 2nd drive and installed Win7, loaded AHCI drivers from USB flash. Everything went great, no need for any EasyMBR tool. I would turn on computer and get boot option for Win7 or Earlier Version.....and still had access to all restore points in Win7.
Reason for reinstall - I was having problems getting rid of everything related to Nero, wiped some things out of registry that I guess XP needed and it would not start all the way. I tried to run a repair on XP and it worked, but lost my boot option for Win7.
Fine, I thought I'll just reinstall both OS's again since it was so easy the 1st time. XP installed with no problem.
I booted up with the Win7 cd, chose the Custom/Advanced Option
High lighted the old partition and deleted it
Chose New from unallocated space and went with the recommended size of about 114442 MB (120GB SSD)
Clicked format and the blue wheel spun for 5 seconds and stopped (Problem 1)
Clicked load drivers and browsed to the USB flash card that has the AHCI drivers on it
Chose the same folder as the first time I did the dual boot without a hitch, got error message (problem 2)
Problem 1 - Why is it not formatting for more than 5 seconds, should take at least 45 minutes from what I remember?
Problem 2 - When trying to load AHCI drivers why am I getting the following message (No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers) ?
Please help, have done this before with no problems and now can't for some reason.
