W7 Setup from DVD - mouse nor keyboard works

Interesting problem, which I discovered more or less coincidentally.

Microsoft's solution for a problem I am having is to repair Windows.
I started out to boot from original W7 DVD but neither mouse nor keyboard worked.
After a couple of times rebooting I gave up.

But then again, it has been working, else I would not have been able to install Windows in the first place.
This was just 1,5 month ago.

Asus X99 DeLuxe/U3.1 motherboard with latest BIOS
    Microsoft 6000 mouse

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Since you're here, why don't you tell us what the problems are exactly since we have a habit of fixing them.

You can also make a System Repair disk to see if it will run at boot, or try another keyboard and mouse.

    ok,
if your computer has ps/2 ports for mouse and keyboard and you are using USB attach ps/2 keyboard and mouse see if that fixes your problem

The problem: unable to run setup/or repair from Windows DVD.
It is a bit difficult when neither mouse nor keyboard works.

    -solved-

seems Windows 7 x64 SP1 does not support USB 3.0 - moved the keyboard and mouse to a USB 2.0 port.
    it is okay now.
