    problem w windows update

i installed clean copy of win 7 explorer worked and could update explorer off explorer but when i click on Windows update it turns on i see red x looks like its working the bar moves from left to right but nothing else happens.

only idea i got is i have different ver of .net on the backup of drivers and i noticed i had .net 5.2.1 before the reinstall so when i went to install nvidia if said it needs .net first so i installed .net 5.2.(maybe thats the prob other ther then that i have no idea)

installing win 7 x64 home premium on z97 extreme 6, have one ssd primary for win install one partitions and one reg raptor
    thx

set the computer not to sleep
manually start the search for updates
leave it alone for 24+ hours

    You are lucky

The search time has varied drastically these past few months.

Intentional Microsoft delay perhaps, trying to force people to Windows 10?
