Error during install - "windows could not configure one or more..."

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me diagnose what is causing this error during install - "windows could not configure one or more system components". I go through the setup process and everything seems to be going normally, then the system reboots and comes back to the last stage of the setup screen as normal then I get the error telling me to try reinstalling again.

I used the program 'Win Toolkit' to integrate the latest updates into my install image which I know is what caused the error, but I'd like to know specifically which update/s are causing the error so that I can exclude them when rebuilding my image.

I have attached some install logs from the \Windows\Panther directory, hopefully some of the knowledgeable people here can help me troubleshoot the problem?!

Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit sp1

Hi blueman83, welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Could you be clearer on how you are doing the install. Are you using the usual Windows 7 installation DVD, or are you installing a backed up image. If you are reinstalling from a backed up image what program are you using.

Using 3rd party software to assist installation will very likely cause problems.

Did you yet Troubleshoot Windows 7 Installation Failures - Windows 7 Help Forums?

If so then next I'd enter Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation to disable any erroring devices.

I don't know about the tool you used but what's worked best for years is here to Update 7 installation media - Windows 7 Help Forums. However all the time this saves is about an hour so I'd consider just using the Win7 with SP1 ISO correctly verified and burned as discussed in Step 1 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which are the steps that assure a perfect install which will stay that way exactly as long as you stick with the tools and methods suggested.
