    Dual boot questions

I have a desk top that is running on windows 7. I have the operating system, programs and so on in partition c which is half of a 2 tb drive and all my images on the other half.

I am going to fit a SSD to which I will install windows 7 and some key photography editing software only.

I know I can set up so at boot I have of choice of which windows the pc will boot from, but if I boot from the ssd will I be able to access outlook and word etc that is on the other hdd or do I have to install them on the ssd as well?
if I have software installed on the old drive can I create a shortcut on the ssd to access that software or must it be reinstalled via the ssd even if its directory location is not on the ssd but in the other drive?

hope that make sense to read

You'll have to install Word and such to the new Windows version on the SSD in order for the Windows version on the SSD to be able to make use of them.

Otherwise, it doesn't know where the essential files are because the required information isn't in the registry.

If you have programs that don't require Windows installation, they can be run from the old drive with no issues.
