    Problems with install

My pc runs on Xp and i won't to install Win 7..dual boot. First there was "bootmgr is missing" error, fixed. Then "NTLDR is missing" error, fix that to. Then i tryed again but insatll stoped at 2. step, and just restared the pc. Any ideas what is it now??

I suspect the boot files were deleted by accident. they exist in a hidden folder called boot. If xp was installed first and win 7 next they should be on the XP partiton.

To fix the problem you can
boot from the dvd and do a repair install
Boot from the dvd and re-install completely.

When it gets to intalling files % does it just not complete and you restart? If so let it sit awhile longer some have had to wait overnight.

Can you post a pic of your disk management from xp. Are you installing on same drive as xp or on your other drive? How big is your partition you are installing 7 on?

Are you booting from the installer, creating a second partition using Custom>Advanced tools, formatting that partition (requires Win7 formatting which has different NTFS table) and installing there?

At what point during or after the above steps does the installer stall? Are you letting it run to see if it resumes?

If you cannot get past this stage and are starting with the steps given above, then the first thing to check is whether there is a BIOS update for your model on the manufacturer's product download page. If not, check the downloads page of the motherboard.
