How Long For Windows Easy Transfer?

Upon the recommendation from a previous thread I decided to try out Windows Easy Transfer as I migrate from 7100 64 bit to Retail 64 bit. I have a lot of files to transfer, almost a TB, but I started this process 15 hours ago and I still have 3-1/2 hours to go. I'm writing the file to an external hard drive via USB. Is this a ridiculously long time?

As it stands, I don't completely trust WET and will be installing the OS to a new hard drive and keeping the old hard drive as a backup until I'm absolutely sure that all my files transferred to the new hard drive.

Will it take just as long to transfer the files to the *new* computer?

You have an extremely large numbers of files, I do not think that it is taking too long. Based upon my experience, it will take just about as long to transfer back. That was the bad news. The good news W7 is really a great OS and you will enjoy.

Rediculously long time. I transfered 500 gigs in 2 hours. open task manager and ensure the wizard is running and "not responding"

Yes, it's still running. It's now down to 1hr 42 minutes so maybe it will finish sometime today.

I want to use this program to upgrade two XP machines but not if it takes this long.

I turned off my antivirus (AVG) and it finished up quickly. After installing a new CPU (I need XP emulation for an embroidery software program) and a fresh HDD I'm installing Windows 7.
