reinstallation dvd hangs on starting windows screen

win 7 home prem 64 bit..dell sent a reinstall dvd, i put it in the computer, which is dell inspiron 620, hit any key, see the white bar across the bottom windows loading files, next screen says starting windows, and thats it... it hangs there frozen.......before i did this.......the other day .i did a quick format on the HD, while i had it out and hooked up to my sata adapter to my other good working computer.....

i didnt have the dvd that came with the computer, so dell sent me the reinstallation dvd......if all went well, then id have to download the needed drivers etc.........BUT i cant get it to get past the starting windows screen.............i set defaults in F2 then changed boot setting to boot from cd/dvd...nothing else was touched or changed.......its a seagate 1Tb hd and when its hooked to adapter its fine.....before i wiped it clean/formatted it, i removed all the threats and crap, and moved important things from it....This is my sisters dell comp and i took it to get it running again.........

Ive read so many sites and info on what to do, but nothing works or pertains to the computer......anyone here help with this??? short of paying dell tech support over a 100 bucs, which i wont do....or get a new HD, i dont know why it wont go past the starting windows screen

    Hi
i took the HD out of the dell comp and hooked it to my sata/ide adapter, then to my own computer......i moved things off of it to save and scanned it all cleaned it up and where it says manage i did the quick format it is NTFS i didnt change anything.......after that i can see there is NOTHING on it......i think the HD is fine, i dont know if something else got erased in the quick format or not........i plugged HD into adapter again and moved some things to it to see if it was ok, and it was fine, then i removed the thing i put on it and its empty...........i cant figure out why it freezes up when starting windows screen comes up

also, the only things i can get into are F2 which is bios AND F12, other then that, i CAN NOT get anywhere else or do anything else........when i put the HDD back into the dell pc and just turn it on, NO DISK or anything, besides hitting F2 or F12, which is all i can do.....all i see on the screen is white bar at bottom and words saying windows loading files...and it hangs there forever....does nothing else..............so i shut it down, had dell send me the reinstall dvd, i put the boot to dvd 1st then i do what it says, hit any key to begin, then i clearly see the windows loading files screen, just like before, but i can see the white bar actually loading then next screen is starting windows, and then it freezes/hangs...normally it would go right into the windows and set up etc...ive done all this before yrs ago, but not having this dumb issue......i clicked the link you had in your reply......how can i do this when i cant get anything on the comp except F2 or F12???

    Hi,
Did you review the tutorial link ?
Make a partition and mark it active ?

Not sure what the issue is with the media that was sent to you by Dell ?

    One other note
What was the reasons for the clean install ?

i saw the link and went thru it... just not sure how i get to all that when i cant get anything.......when i turn it on it goes right to windows loading files screen and does nothing......this is my sisters dell pc and 1 day it was working and the next day after some updates it started doing this.......turns it on and goes right to windows loading files, she cant even get F8 to do any reconfig or restore, at 1st she could but then that froze too, launch start up repair or restore point, or start windows normally, ALL froze and hung there.....so i took the computer to look thru it....i took out the HDD, its 1Tb sata its a 64bit..........i hooked it to my adapter etc etc, ran virus scans and malware and it had over 60 threats and a cpl virus threats, i got them off and did a quick format...now there is nothing.............im sure the dvd reinstall works fine but why it hangs upon starting windows is beyond me.......i guess i have to do something to the HD............but after looking at your link, how do i do that when only screen i can get are F2 F12 on dell inspiron 620 desktop????

and me creating a repair cd on MY OWN COMPUTER to use on dell computer is pointless, because dell sent me the reinstallation dvd for win 7 HP....is there something i have to look for or change or do in the F2 section, bios?? F2 is set up F12 is boot options.short of just buying another HDD, which im sure this one is fine, i dont know what else i can do...any paying DELL tech support, forget that........how can i make a partition if i cant get to any cmd screen

    Hi,
Yea I would suspect the disk has a root kit or something on it,
Clean all would be best but on 1tb might take a long time to complete
Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command
It would be more straight forward and cheaper to buy a new hdd
Hopefully the install media was not corrupted by the root kit ?

just looked thru your links....dont have a problem with clean all....BUT again...how do i get to do that if after turning the computer on, only screen that comes up AT THIS POINT, is windows loading files, and it hangs there.....before the dell logo i can tap F2 set up or F12 boot options, I cant get anything when i tap F8 to get to the advanced boot options..........so where do i go to be able to TRY a clean all when computer starts that way
