Is your OEM disc a Microsoft disc?
Do you have one of these on your computer?

Here is a site that many have found to work for downloading a up to date ISO of the Windows 7 that matches your COA key.

Do you or do you not have a sticker like I posted on your computer?
That is where you will get your OEM COA key from.

How are you getting your COA key?

What I'm trying to figure out for sure is whether the disk is a Dell disk or a Microsoft disk.

I know very little about what you can or can not do with a Dell disc. I'm thinking not much.
I will go back to the ranch and see if I can find some help from other members.

Theory says it should - practice may be different
I would NEVER recommend uninstalling SP1 - having said that, it's sometimes unavoidable.
