Hi, I googled for the stuck at verifying DMI pool data problem and got led here.

My problem is quite similar to terrorist's except that mine was a clean install. I was using vista before. I tried clean installing win7 and after it completes installation, my pc will restart and stuck at the verifying DMI pool data screen. I have tried many solutions suggested by google but to no avail.

Then, I found this. I followed SIW's method and when i got to the partition wizard screen, my drive could not be set to active, system & boot. Only active.

Can anyone help me on this? Thanks.

    Hi,

You should now be able to run startup repair from the 7 dvd. It might take a few runs.

That should recreate/repair the boot critical files.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, I did try that too. ran it for like 3-4 times consecutively. Still nothing.

Edit: BTW, I tried reinstalling vista and xp. Both had no problems booting.

Edit2: Hi again, I am finally able to boot into win7 by restoring the mbr. What I did was follow the instructions in these 2 links.
MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record

And thanks to SiW2 for helping out.

    Hi,

    You're welcome.

Startup repair should have done that automatically.

Occasionally, it doesn't and you need to run a couple of commands - that would have been the next step.

Glad you found them and your problem is resolved.

Bah, I just clicked Post Reply after typing a long message detailing my problems w/ a similar problem.... anyway, not giving up that easily!

I found this thread while looking up freezes at verifying dmi pool data... and have been following the steps (as my case was very similar)
I had tried to upgrade to windows 7 from my windows vista. After the install, I was at the login screen. However when I started typing my password, the computer restarted. At this point I got stuck at the verifying DMI pool data...

So far I've followed these steps:

Downloaded + burned w/ imgburn the windows 7 86x recovery disk
Booted the recovery tool, ran the test (with no results)
Went into CMD prompt and followed the diskpart, found out that everything was the same except that I had 3 partitions (all NTFS) of 245 245 and 10 GB

One thing that has been happening is that if I leave the computer on after it hangs at the DMI pool data, when I restart, I can't even get a signal on my moniter. Fortunately I stumbled upon another thread with a really interesting solution (that happens to work for me). Unplugging the power source on the computer, holding the power button for 30s-60s, release, plug in the power source, turn on computer.

However, just getting a signal on my screen still doesn't let me get past this annoying message of verifying DMI pool data...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Update

Restarted computer w/o finishing the memory scan test (was taking forever)
Went into Partition Wizard (my second drive (the one with my files on it) was the active one) however, it did not say active system & boot, in fact none of them said that
So now I closed the PW and it restarted, back to being stuck at the verifying DMI pool data...

Ok, while I'm waiting, I've been thinking of possible solutions. Right now I'm backing up my important files with Paragon. My computer has a built in re-image, so I was thinking of doing a complete reset, then instead of doing an upgrade, do a straight install of windows 7 instead. Not too sure how to do the last step w/ an ISO (without a DVD-R)
It'd be great if I didn't have to resort to these measures, but what do you think?

Well... bad news, for me at least, I can't access my re-image... (in the past i just had to hold ALT and press f10 repeatedly) but now it still takes me to the verifying dmi pool data. tried going into safe mode, doesn't work either. I'm guessing something's really messed up w/ the booting scheme, and now I'm not too sure that windows 7 even installed. In the Paragon boot disk, there's an option to check for OSes, turns out it says i have Vista/2000.

Do you think the problem is that I need to use a vista recovery disk? I'm at a dead end on my own here, don't know what to do w/ the machine.

    help please!

Are you sure it isn't saying Vista/2008 ?

If that is the 9 series, you might expect that - it recognizes the o/s as nt6, but doesn't know about 7. It also might be recognizing it as Vista as the upgrade didn't complete properly.

If you can back up your data with Paragon - do so.

There seems to be an issue with bios recognizing your hardware - possibly the HD , but hard to say.

After backing up important data - try a reinstall.

You have an installation iso , but no dvd?

Can you make a bootable flash drive on another machine?
