    Installing Windows 7

So i am trying to install Windows 7 from my cd/dvd, I currently have Zorin OS.
At the section where I have to choose between 2 disks, I have Disk 0 Partition 1 and Disk 1 Partition 2. They both have the same error:

Windows cannot be installed on this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.
Windows cannot be installed on this hard disk space. The partition is of an unrecognized type.

Does anyone know how to help me out of this? I would like to install Window 7 and remove linux/unbuntu.

Pick the drive you want to install Windows 7 on and remove all other drives.
Then just follow this tutorial by Brink and you shouldn't have any problems if the hardware is working properly.
Just for a little insurance; if their is any data of the drive you are going to use for the clean install I would recommend backing it up to another drive first.

You had Zorin installed, that`s why you get the error message, you must delete the drive to unallocated space first.

As Jack says, please disconnect all hard drives except the drive you want windows on.

You may even have to run the clean command on the target drive to clean the Linux code.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I doubt any windows operation will get rid of or clean a linux grub
You'd have better luck using a Linux live cd or flash media and gpart to clean and reformat to unallocated or ntfs.

Thanks Brian and Mike. Good suggestions.

I didn't know that a grub was a problem with a format and Clean Install.

I think Brian suggestion of this is a good idea. Other than taking more time their shouldn't be any problems.

When I've done this I've used parted magic and run dd to erase the disc. That works as well - then you have a new clean drive to install from.
