Actually, there's something throwing me, here. Imgburn is currently "erasing disc", but the DVD drive isn't doing anything; the HDD is doing the work. Is it erasing an image on the hard drive? Also, a similar occurrence happened earlier through Nero; while recording any "image", it was only the HDD working, and not the blank media. I hope I'm making sense.

Not if it placed the ISO file on the DVD. It just copied the file instead of burning the image. Either a corruption in the file creating an image or failure to Burn Image to Disk.

If the files will install to a second partition you create, then they are good and can be used to reconstruct an ISO using the tutorial given above. Or download the ISO again.

You have an an .nrg file?

You need a .iso file.

.nrg files are not ISO images with .nrg extension. NERO .nrg file format uses a variation of the Interchange File Format (IFF)

I have both, but I was trying to use the .nrg file through the imgburn app to see if it would make a difference. I already tried burning the ISO file through imgburn, and it put it on the DVD as a simple data file. Using imgburn, Nero and Microsoft's programs, all I'm getting is a data file burned onto the DVD.

Here are my choices in Nero:

Should I be using the "Image Recorder" option? I tried that once, but it seemed to only showing activity on the hard drive instead of burning anything. Maybe I'm mixing things up the wrong way.

Well, I just checked the newly downloaded ISO file from Digital River, and when choosing it in imgburn, the evasive "bootable" has just shown up next to "File Sys":

I'm about to give it a try since I didn't see that word listed on the other ISO.....*fingers crossed*.....

SOLVED!

Well, after downloading the ISO again, the Imgburn app was able to burn the image correctly onto the disc. The disc will now autorun! Gregrocker, your suggestion about "bootable" showing up before attempting to burn was right on! Thanks to everyone who responded to my post with suggestions; it's all been very helpful!

Take Care!

No Autorun?
OK, so I'm not sure why this is happening... For some reason it seems that autorun prompts are entirely disabled on my laptop, I'll put in a CD and nothing happens, I plug in a hard drive and nothing happens, etc. I don't get the options window like I did before I did a clean install. I even...

USB autorun in W7
Ok, I know this is a sore subject, but are there any work-a-rounds to get handy programs like PortableApps to at least be an option to run when you plug it in? It kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing. I'm not plugging in rogue USB sticks from strangers in dark alleys, just my own USB...
