Reimage Dell XPS 8500 with msata3 cache ; See blue screen errors
Hi Everyone,
I looking for help in reimaging a dell xps 8500.
Here are some particulars:
-I have the Windows 7 64 bit disk and key
- I have a 32gb msata3 cache ssd
- I did a computer self diagnostic with dell and the computer is good
- 2000gb hard drive
- DVD drive
- 12 gb memory
- Basically i have a oem system
Here is my situation. My son used my pc and it got a virus or two. I figured wipe the disk and reinstall the OS. That is where my problems started.
I went into F2 and set the boot disk to the dvd with the windows 7 disk in but i ended up getting the blue screen with the error:
Here is what i did:
1 - Put windows 7 dvd in dvd player
2 - Start up pc and press space bar when it says....press any key to boot from dvd
3 - I see windows loading at the bottom
4 - I see at the top advanced boot options
5 - I select load windows normally
6 - I see the windows screen install and select install
7 - At the install windows screen i see no available drives even though i did a diagnostics earlier?
8 - I get a warning and a new window says, put in your driver disk
9 - I open a brand new never touched dell xps drivers dvd and put it in the pc
10 - I get an warning that the pc cant find the driver - its says no signed drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers then click ok
11 - Buttons available are browse and rescan while next is greyed out
12 - Hitting rescan gives the same warning about the driver, no signed driver....
13 - Hitting browse shows a number of drives like: C,EF,G, and boot x
14 - I forgot to mention that the button hide drivers that are not compatible with this computer is checked and no drives are shown
15 - Clicking on all the driver options just yields the same warning that there is no signed driver....
16 - The exception to line 15 above is that drive x has stuff on it!
I can see the following folders on drive xrogram files, sources, users, windows
What i would like to do is put a completely new installlation into the pc. I dont want to keep the old files.
Generally i do this everyone once in a while anyhow because so many websites have files that are suspect and anti virus doesnt always catch it. My son does his homework and showed me he isnt going to bad places but there are viruses out there in seemingly innocent places. So just a few bits of extra info. I tried to repair the windows OS and go to a older point but i was not able to do that. But again i dont care. I just want to learn how to completey reimage the pc.
