How do I install Windows 7 from recovery discs onto new hard drive?
Hi, I have a Sony Vaio laptop - VGN-NW265F/B , and the original hard drive went bad due to a SMART failure.
I've installed a new hard drive, and used the 1st recovery disc to get to the recovery menu. I've tried numerous times to install the OS from the recovery discs provided by Best Buy, which came with no instructions, but I keep getting errors.
There's nothing I can do from the recovery menu to make a new install on the new hard drive. The laptop also can't find the drivers on the recovery discs.
I'm getting frustrated because I've had 2 Dells in the past, which came with all the software necessary, and I was able to do everything myself.
This time I bought this Sony, it didn't come with software, especially a disc containing the drivers, and these 2 recovery discs aren't letting me do anything, except get into the recovery menu.
I can't format the new hard drive, or complete system, can't locate the drivers, etc...what a nightmare!!!
Is anyone familiar with this laptop, and/or knows how I should proceed to get this laptop up and running?
Thanks...
