how can i recover my partition and data

I was running win 7 with 4 partitions , thought to upgrade to win 10. While installing it didn't allowed me to install. I thought i can run diskpart clean on one partition, selected one volume and ran clean command, but it still cleaned all the partitions. Long story short, I cannot boot my OS until I install OS on freshly created single partition. I was told to use partition recovery apps like partition and mount software, Do I have to install OS on it anyways and once OS is installed, instal the partition and mount software for the recovery?

Do not install any OS now.Do not install any OS now. Do not install any OS now.

(Diskpart clean only erases the first 2048 sectors of the drive. The most important one is sector 0 which holds the MBR and the partition table.

If the MBR and partition table are restored you should be able to get back the drive.

I hurry up to post this so that you don't do any such "mischief" like installing the OS)

    I shall comeback again.

Do not do any mischief till I tell you what you should do.:)

EDIT: There is a power shut down now. So I am shutting off my PC. Only when power returns I shall come back.

Download Partition Wizard Bootable CD Free version from Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online

Note: If your PC which you want to recover was using 32bit Windows download the 32 bit version.

If your PC you want to recover was using 64 bit Windows download the 64 bit version.

Using Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/ create a bootable pendrive with that ISO. ( Use an empty pendrive without any data on it.)( You will do this on a working PC)

Once you have created a bootable Partition Wizard pen drive, boot your non-bootable PC with it using the onetime boot menu. ( Make sure that you do not have any other external drive plugged in except your bootable PW pen drive.)

Once in Partition Wizard, select your drive and on the left pane click on Rebuild MBR. (If necessary click on APPLY on top Menu Bar, to complete the process)

Once the Rebuild MBR is done, click on the Partition Recovery Wizard on the left pane and run a quick scan.
All the partitions found will be shown in a window.

Post a snapshot of it. ( You have to take a camera shot)

Then Click on cancel and close PW. You can rerun Partition Wizard again after getting instructions from me as to which of the shown partitions you should select. Don't do this without my instructions. Selecting the wrong partitions will make your HDD worse and unrecoverable. So don't be in a hurry and wait for my instructions.)

At any stage, you need help ask for it. Since it is already bedtime for me, I shall be back only after another twelve hours.

Thanks, but I need to ask how and when am I supposed to use the minitool partition wizard.??. If am not confused, the rufus will only create a bootable pendrive using the iso on the installation disc, but what will I use the minitool for??.

Or better still, you said in your post ""Once you have created a bootable Partition Wizard pen drive, boot your non-bootable PC with it using the onetime boot menu."". So, hw will I go about making bootable pen drive to become bootable 'partition wizard' pen drive??. Thanks in advance.

From your system specs, I see that you have an HP Laptop. But you haven't given the exact Model No.So I do not know whether it has Standard BIOS or UEFI.

Usually on HP laptops, you will press Esc and F9 key when the system starts booting and it will show you the boot menu. ( Plug in the bootable pendrive, press the power on button and then press Esc and F9 key when the system starts booting.) Check your laptop documentation for this.

Too bad you reinstalled that fast and lost all your files. It would have been simple to recover those files.
