Samsung SSD causing Acer laptop to reboot at Splash Sceen

    - Acer laptop had a mechanical HDD which was slowing down
    - purchased a SAMSUNG 850 evo HDD
    - upgraded windows 7 to Windows 10 on laptop
    - cloned from old disk to new SSD
    - rebooted and it boots great
    - stopped working about 2 days later and now keeps rebooting at Acer splash screen
    - put original disk back in and it boots fine
    - plugged SSD into an external reader and I can access all files
    - tried booting from it also and I was able to.. and no I did not let it get too far
    - upgraded bios to latest version on laptop and same results
    - re-cloned to the SSD to see , same resuts
    - any ideas ?

By same results do you mean it worked for a few reboots then boot loops again? Can you get into safe mode (Shift-F8 at boot, can be very tricky to accomplish with fast boot on)?

Doesn't get that far in before it hangs and restarts

So your hdd still works for booting up correct? What did you use to clone your drive?

I used macrium Reflect and my friend did a bit by bit clone also in Lunix, same result. Funny thing is he wiped the drive and now it boots up fine with nothing on it.

were going to try a clone to a different SSD and it that fails well try cloning to another mechanical drive. Still baffling s to why it worked for awhile then bam it didn't want to anymore.

it was not booting with it attached to the laptop but booting off the hdd in the laptop? As in it was hanging the boot since the bios did not like it?

It working then stopping I can chop up to like a buggy windows update. But your saying you took your good drive and cloned it a second time and it wont even boot to get buggy so that makes me think your ssd needs like secure erased before the clone as something is messed up about it. Is the laptop in AHCI mode?
