Windows 7 installation not succesful, headache here.
Hey guys,I now have an old IDE HDD 40GB that has Windows XP Pro on it.So I want to install my Windows 7 on my new SATA HDD...So,I want to install Windows 7 on this new SATA.
I just got my copy of Windows 7 in an ISO file format.I burned it to a DVD,then tried to boot my computer from the DVD,but can't!I don't know why. That's my first problem. The next problem is:So,I just boot into XP,put in the DVD,then try installing while XP is running.
But,during the installation,'Copying Windows File' goes well, but when it reaches 'Expanding Windows files',at 27%,the computer will restart. After it restarts,it goes back to the setup, then after a few seconds,it will stop and restart again, then boots back into XP and gives me an error saying 'Windows 7 installation was not successful.'Your previous version of windows has been restored, etc.
So,I really want to get my Windows 7 running, but I'm sick of this problem.Another thing is,when Win 7 setup starts,it will copy temporary files first right? It takes a sickening long time!!
Help please.Thanks very much.
:)
P.S:I'm doing a clean install
