    ISO image

    Hello

    I love windows 7 :)

I have lost my windows dvd and now digital river is offline I am in a pickle.

I notice Microsoft has a new way to download a new windows 7 iso once you have verified your product key.

The quistain I have is, if I purchase a retail disk off ebay that dies not have SP1 so its an older version will Microsoft download the same version without SP1 or will it allow me to download the latest version with SP1?

Do you have a COA sticker on your PC ?

Is your PC a pre-built such as HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc. ?
    Or, is it a custom-build, home-build, etc. ?

A pre-built OEM probably can't download the official ISO from MS, you need to contact the PC manufacturer for recovery media.
A "custom-build OEM" or full Retail license should be able to download the ISO from MS.

Your SF specs show nothing i understand.
Fill in your specs, including make and model, etc.

If you buy off ebay, good luck.

If you want a legitimate Win 7 license, purchase from a reputable dealer such as NewEgg, Tiger Direct, BestBuy, etc., that will make good on what you purchase - the Windows license will be legitimate !

So, you can't download with a retail product key ?

Can you get a legitimate DVD or ISO from anyone you know, or any other PC you have ?
If you can get any legitimate DVD/ISO, it can be converted to another version.
You MUST have a legitimate license for this.

I read you can make vanilla copy so you can delete the ei.cfg file or edit it and change the disk from oem to retail and also change the os version.

Can you do this with the oem disk or only the retail disk?

As far as i know OEM vs. Retail makes no difference
I only have retail licenses, so i can't test OEM.

If your licensed version is unavailable you can unlock all versions in any ISO by running ei.cfg removal tool or by deleting ei.cfg file from Sources folder on bootable flash stick. Check the HASH first before unlocking the ISO.

    That's what I thought

But I have read you cannot make a vanilla disk using an oem disk as its locked to the oem version. I know I can edit ei.cfg and change the version or change the retail or oem channel or even delete it and make it a multiple version boot disk but only on the retail iso and not oem

I thought OEM vs Retail makes no difference for this, but i could be wrong.
I can't test this with an OEM license/ISO, i only have Retail.
