Unable to upgrade to Win 10 - no errors shown

I have been trying to upgrade my HP G62 Notebook PC for a week now. I get to 88% configuring and then the "shutting down" screen comes on. It then restarts in Win 7.

I have followed all the steps to get ready for Win 10 upgrade but having no sucess.

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply. I have been just clicking on the icon in the try and starting the upgrade from that.

I just did a Clean Boot and am trying to reinstall again. Will let you know. It has been taking allmost 2 hours.

Well the Media Creation Tool also failed. Everything was going good and Tool stated that is had installed Win 10 was going to restart. Then a box came up saying "Something Happened" "Windows 10 installation has failed" OK.

I will have to try the Clean Install route. Thanks for the help.

If you have never upgraded to 10 from 7 or 8.1 yet, then a clean install will not activate. You would have to buy a W10 key.

You can try the 1st link I posted, good luck with that.

Have you ever use the Technical Preview ? How do you know you`ll even like Windows 10 ?

AddRam - I was going to try the "Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First" from the tutorials.

It says that Win 10 will activate after install.

I have another laptop that has Win 10 installed and it seems to be OK (for now at least).

I have not used Technical Preview. Do you have a url?

    THanks

LordSnow - Thanks for your suggestion.

My C Drive has over 25 GB free. I tried the "Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First" 2 times.

Both times I get the "Something Happened" box and that Win 10 installation has failed. I have 23 failed win 10 installs showing in Update history.

I have tried ALL ways to install listed in Tutorials. Something is "Wrong" with my Win 7. I have run SFC many times but can not find anything.

I think I may have to do a Clean Install of Win 7 and then try upgrading to Win 10.

I heard a fishing story that said M$ is allowing using a qualifying os's activation key to activate win-10.
I have none I want to use to test it with.
