what do i install first when installing fresh copy of win 7

    As ignatz says, The only driver you really need to worry about is the network (ethernet) driver, which is on the motherboard cd. That way you can download the other drivers from the manufacturers website if you want to, but they too are right there on the cd.
    the logic being if i install the drivers first then enable the audio in the bios then windows wownt have chance to first install some old 2006 deiver of its own and same applies to lan or will that approach not work?

    i never tried it like that once you enable it windows will probably install the driver as it found new hardware. not sure that will be the case though

    Those drivers are meant to get you up and running until you update to the ones you want or need.

    There's nothing wrong with them though.

    A driver is a driver, if you have the latest then that`s what windows will use.

    Leave the bios alone, there is no need to disable those items

    by the way, do i want drive c and d to both be "primary" or do i want c where i plan to install windows to be system and drive d to be primary?

    C and D are typically both primary.

    System Reserved should be marked "system" if you are using System Reserved at all. If you don't have a System Reserved, then C would be marked "system".

    If you are creating a partition to install Windows 7 on, it has to be primary.

    You can make D whatever you want, but I see no reason not to make it primary also.
