vista home premium doesnt like W7 professional

I downloaded Windows 7 professional and WIPED my vista home files into a catch-all file called old.windows.

I am seriously considering reinstalling vista but windows 7 will take old.windows with it.

Spare me commentary on what an idiot I am for not installing windows 7 home Primium.

Is there any way back up the rabbit hole?

Not sure I understand the Question.

Do you have a Vista install dvd?

Do you want to reinstall Vista from the Windows.old folder?

vista-W7

W7 professional has packed up all my previous applications and favorites and little details which I now sorely miss.

I have a Vista restore disc that came with my laptop, but I figure I'll loose all that data stored in 'old.windows' if I go that way.
