Get rid of Win 10 icon after uninstalling KB3035583

    Hi,

I've just installed Windows 8 on a laptop, and the Windows 10 icon showed up, as it does. Usually, when that happens and I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, I simply uninstall KB3035583. And it works, although I need to hide it from updates so that it doesn't bug me.

The problem now is that I've already uninstalled this update and the icon still shows up. Actually, the installer asked me right after it finished if I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10, and that led me to believe that there's something else in the system that triggers the notification.

Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Yep just go to the Notifications area and hide the icon and notifications . Then go to Task manager click on Processes and turn of the GWX listed.

You can also use this to disable any upgrade to 10 if you don't want to Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums
Use the Dsiable download forthe registry and it is reversible if you so wish.

PS You cannot delete any registry entries for the GWX - been there can't do it

I succeeded in getting rid of it by changing the Windows policies (gpedit.msc). The first option didn't work, as I was unable to find the registry :)

    THanks!
