    Upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 Home Premium


    I have a machine with Windows XP and i want to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have to make only upgrade because I have some programs for some machines and I don't have a CD to reinstall them. So I try to do simple upgrade but it show Error that I cant do that. So is there some tricks to to or I have to make clean installation of Windows 7?

    The only way to properly upgrade is to upgrade to vista first, then 7. But people say that aint reccommended.

    With XP you have to clean install, there is no upgrade path from XP to 7

    There is no direct upgrade path from XP to Windows 7 and that is essentially what the error is telling you. A custom install is supported but it does not preserve applications. To do an upgrade that preserves applications you would have to first install Vista. A double upgrade of such an old OS is often troublesome.
