Help installing onto partition without losing backup data

can someone help me install win 7 ultimate x64 on a partition?
hello I'm currently trying to install win 7 Ult x64 on a separate partition for my backup partition without deleting my backup partition

currently I have one disk with 2 partitions and a allocated space
the first one is newly created (yes I wiped windows completely >.<)
the second one is where I backed up my files before I tried to reinstall and messed everything up

all 2 partitions and the unallocated space have the error
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks

so basically I'm trying to fix this in the cmd at the windows install screen
both partitions are of the Primary Type and I don't know if this is causing it.

also I can't seem to use the new button on my Unallocated space inless I select less then 2 mb for the size

Wait till you see '"Press any key to boot from dvd" flash up the second time and then press any key.

Delete the new one you created on your own and let windows create a partition, and of course leave the other partition with data alone. See if that helps. No reason you shouldn't be able to install Windows on a single partition without deleting all the partitions.

hmm weird I guess me creating the new partition fixed it thanks
but installing to a partition 2 won't overwrite my backup files on partition 1 will it?

It shouldn't touch the other partition, but as always it would be a good measure to somehow back your stuff up before installing. Maybe remove your HD, put it on a dock on another pc, copy the files off there.

All you have to do is enable Legacy boot in the bios, then you will be able to install windows on that hard drive.
