    Where to download Windows 7?

I purchased a new laptop running Windows 10. I want to wipe my old HP and do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium. I don't want to reinstall using HP's disc if I can avoid it. Prefer a clean and light running PC since this will really only be for miscellaneous use.
Anyway, I thought I could download a copy of 7, burn to a bootable USB and install, entering my C of A when prompted. But when I tried downloading from MS, I was asked for the C of A, only to be told it was an OEM and I needed to contact the manufacturer directly. Any way to get around this? Thank you.

Your problem won't be finding the download, the problem is getting a new key from an OEM key. No matter what, you're going to have to activate and the Windows 10 OEM key simply will not activate a Windows 7 PC. I would think the manufacturer should be pretty understanding as long as you have proof of purchase, not out of your warranty, etc.

Did you contact Microsoft directly or did the download page tell you that your key is not acceptable to download 7?

These links should help, you obviously have the product key already if Microsoft told you to go to the OEM,

Don't bother using the MS site, it doesn't work for me with a legit retail key. A lot of people have had issues.

Try this site, the MD5's are correct:

To clarify, I have a product key that came with the HP laptop. When I attempted to download 7 from Microsoft, I was prompted for the key, but then received a message that it is an OEM key and I should contact the manufacturer. But I already have the HP Recovery disc, which is what they will send if I contact them.
I'm just looking for a legit download of 7 that I can use for a clean install. But it doesn't appear that exists anymmore.
In the meantime I am going to try the link posted above to PCsteps.com. Thanks, everyone!

    Microsoft DigitalRiver Mirror

Unless you have a Retail key or a system builders key, the Microsoft site will not work and you get the message you got.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.
After downloading Windows 7 the OEM key off of the Microsoft COA key sticker will still be needed.

The OEM/SLP key will not work.
