Install W10 and W7 on one machine?

    Hi all,

Having downgraded my laptop from W10 to W7, it is missing some drivers for several things, which are detailed in another topic.

I am starting to think that this laptops mobo or setup will not support some drivers for W7 as it originally came with W8.1

I have the option to put back on W10 via upgrade - as the 7 installation activated ok and the upgrade nagging window has started.

If I did this I guess the laptops device drivers would then be installed as it would all be upgraded as for W10.

BUT - is it possible to also install W7 on the same laptop - have the 2 installed at the same time? I hate W8 and W10, and am comfortable with 7.

IE have W10 keeping the hardware and devices happy, but effectively using W7 as my OS.

    Thanks

    Gerry

Sure, you can install two Windows. But you will need 2 product keys. That will cost you minimum $100 for an OEM key.

Ah - of course the W10 upgrade uses the W7 key, so that key would then be unusable to reinstall W7 too.

I might have to root around in my old pc disc collection and see if I have a W7 one that could be used, failing that I guess I shall be forced into the W10 user fraternity !

if you are missing drivers, try using windows 8.1/10 drivers. they work over 80% of the time. My windows 7 is run entirely on windows 8.1 drivers, except for the graphics drivers.

    Hi,
Yep many people are doing the same thing thinking they can keep both 10 and the upgraded qualifying os,
M$ will eventually deactivate the key and show Not genuine messages.

After upgrade you have 30days to use 10 and be able to revert to 7 or what ever
But you must use win-10 recovery to get back to the prior os
Then you can restore a system image to before you upgraded.
