Downgrade Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 7 Enterprise

    Hello,

I have seen on some threads in the past that it is possible to downgrade windows 7 Ult. to Windows 7 Ent by changing a few registry keys. Does anyone know if this is still possible?

    Thanks,

    Welcome to the forum.

Windows 7 and Ultimate are virtually identical except for the licensing. Windows 7 is a retail product while Enterprise is normally available only to large organizations with volume licensing. Do you qualify for Enterprise?

    Windows 7 downgrade

Yes, I have licenses for both, but would rather not rebuild the machines.

Why would you want to change Ultimate to Enterprise if Ultimate is installed and running fine ?

As stated Enterprise is for work related computers installed by the company iT department, or delivered that way.

    Windows 7 Downgrade

We had some machines, prior to me joining my company, that were mistakenly built with Ultimate. We would like them to be in line with our volume license without having to rebuild the machines completely.

So then just re image them.

All handled by the IT department or the company they hire to do it.

I do it all the time.

We are not really allowed to help you tinker with work related computers.
