The Microsoft link turns me down because the serial number I have is OEM, and therefore I should contact the OEM. They say that I should make a copy of the OS using bloatware that came pre installed with the PC when I bought it.

But thanks for link anyway, I still appreciate it.

The product key is a string of 25 characters.

My question is where did you get the 25 characters from.
Did you or did you not get them off the Microsoft sticker? Yes or No.
I'm trying to figure out why the Microsoft site didn't like them.
