Windows 10 to 7 downgrade help

Hi all. I bought a brand new Dell PC yesterday which came with windows 10. I dont care for 10 and want to go back to 7 pro. I also had a spare solid state HDD so I put the new SS drive in, found an old version of 7 pro, installed it but I cant find the original box or key.

I had heard that there is a free "downgrade (an upgrade IMO) to win 7. Again, the problem is that I no longer have a key to activate it.

Can I buy another product key from MS or elsewhere?

    Thanks

    Hi,
There are win-7 pro licenses on Newegg.com and Amazon just look for system builders

Thats a lot of $$ since I already paid for it once and I paid for Windows 10 as well.
I had read something about a free downgrade from 10 to 7 from MS but cant find it.
    Thanks.

Dell is pretty flexible, you should have asked them if they could install 7 for you, instead of 10

I would still ask Dell now if they can help you change to Win 7, they may offer media for your PC for this.
It's brand new, still under warranty, and can't hurt to ask.

    Hi,
Microsoft has no free downgrades :)

Find the box with the key is about your only option besides begging Dell for downgrade rights which who knows they might but I seriously doubt it M$ has paid them off with cheap or free win-10 licenses

I bought the machine at Best Buy on sale. I doubt the sales person could change a watch battery let alone setup a machine with a different OS

You could still ask at Dell Support what if anything can be done.
You could also ask at Best Buy if you can return the PC and get one with Win 7.
Being it's a sale price, that might not be possible (at the sale price), but can't hurt to ask.

What don't you like about Win 10, is it the Start screen/menu ?
Maybe you could make some changes to Win 10 to make it work and look more like Win 7.

If you have the model number, you can check with Dell if they have a way to do that.

Otherwise, you can get an oem version of 7 cheaply. You can try softicle.com. I haven't used them myself, but it appears ok.
