Barman58 , I was hoping to get Windows 7 online . So I would be able to seek help installing Windows 10 if I needed it .I never in a million years thought I would have had the bother iv had . I thought all I would have to do was phone plusnet and they would install some software or drivers and id be online before the kettle boiled what an idiot I am . Still at east I only owe plusnet £160 if I cancel my contract .

If I bought a long Ethernet cable would that load the Wi-Fi drivers when plugged into my router and computer .

It would not load them but it would use any that were there, the Win 10 appears to have drivers, but you may find that the wireless route is both easier and cheaper, depending on the actual cable length required and the wireless dongles normally come complete with drivers

Any of the big Names are a good start, as you have a Netgear router, (that would probably work better than the PlusNet one, (only consider changing when you are up and running )) a Netgear dongle would probably be a good option. It's a shame you couldn't borrow one to actually get running, then consider the purchase

The only thing that I don't see is any mention of driver support for windows 10, it may work but there have been a few technology advances with Win7 and above

Something like this easyDigital® 300Mbps Wireless Internet USB Adaptor WiFi: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics would be better, as it specifically mentions Win7 & Win10
