Issues with Sata on a Abit Al8!

Hi all, first time posting here and i could really do with some help

So I had given to me a Abit al8 motherboard that I was told works fine. Which it all seems to work in my eyes.

So, I'd like to put Windows 7 x64 on it

First off I setup 2 HDD in a raid 0 formation, booted the disc, very very slow loading. Got to the language install screen, clicked next and then it done the usual "setup is starting"

After about 6-8 minutes it gives me the error that it cannot find any drives and to instal the raid drivers. So I head over to intels website to grab the drivers. (It according to the box has a ICH7R chipset)

Plug the usb stick in, it searches and comes up with one option. (The tick box for don't show unsupport hardware is ticked)

I click next to let it do its things, and it comes back with the error about not finding any drives. So I try another Intel driver, same thing.
Then I resort to deleting my raid and leaving the bios as just plain Sata, no raid.

Get the same error that no drives have been found and asks me to load a driver.

So this time I grab the disc that actually came with the mobo, use another computer to take the drivers off that disc to a usb stick, load it up and I then get a head of choice to choose from, most are relating to usb drivers, some say ich7r.

I end up going through about 4 of the 13 on the list as each time I select one it just hangs for a good 5 minutes then kicks me down with a drive error again.

I am at a total loss with this now. I have absolutely no idea at all what is going on!

I've as I type plugged in an old ide drive, changed the Sata bios settings to ide and as I type now it's just popped up asking for a "load driver" Again!!

This is going to be very swiftly going out the window soon as I have no idea what to do next!

Any of you lovely people have options for me before I loose my rag

Thank you!
