Registration Key Quandry

I have a dual boot system with Win 7 on one hard disk and XP on the other. My EVGA 790i motherboard went South (SATA controller went bad) yesterday. I have a new exact replacement MB on the way from EVGA. I will be using the same exact components; hard disks, video card, sound card, CPU (E8400) on the motherboard. Will I have to re-register my installed Win 7 and XP systems? I can't find a phone number at Microsoft to call and ask the question. Guidance would be very appreciated.

Wouldn't have thought so, your OS's should just run normally from the existing hard drives they're already present upon once you fit the new board.

That is if the motherboard is different form the original one. Microsoft places a ponit value on system components, once you have exceeded the accepted point value microsoft validation reports it as a different system. Their is a post on the point value somewhere here on the forums. Often just a call to microsoft with an explination is all the is required Fabe

If the guys mainboard is being swapped out it would imply he's not using OEM versions of Windows, and therefore the activations of XP and W7 won't be BIOS coded - about the only differences which will physically happen are that any MAC codes for native network adapters will very possibly change.

Were he using an OEM supplied computer it'd have to be under a month old, in which case he'd be RMA'ing the whole bundle and not merely replacing his mainboard - and that's where I am coming from with my opinion that he won't have to reactivate his Microsoft OS's - together with the fact he won't even need to reload them.
