USB Code 10 error on Macrium cloned SSD EVO 840 to EVO 850

I'm an admitted newbie to Macrium Reflect free cloning SSD to SSD, but have had good luck doing cloning for a trial upgrade of W10.
However, I have developed a peculiar (it seems) problem with USB not being functional on the cloned SSD. Systems is a i5 4670k, MB: GA-X87X-UD3H running EVO SSD for Win7 OS and two HD for data.

Boot OS SSD Config, all GPT:
A) Original boot SSD is EVO 840 120 GB
B) 2nd SSD is EVO 840 120 GB (redundant)
C) 3rd SSD is new EVO 850 250 GB
Note: I am not using "C" as in "C:\".

1. Cloned A to B, shutdown, removed A data cable, booted W7 and did W10 upgrade. Disconnected A data cable and booted on B and all is good. No problem here. Note: cloning from EVO 120 to EVO 120; otherwise it appears as if I'd doing the clone correctly.
2. Problem case. cloned A (EVO 840 120GB) Win7 to C (EVO 850 250 GB), max OS partition except for ~23 GB free partition) Win7. Boot with both A and B data cables and able to use F12 to boot on either SSD and have expected normal USB use. Then, I disconnected the A data cable and the OS boots on C but USB throws Code 10 error; Win7 sounds a new-device-connected tone when I insert a USB stick, but Explorer etc. does not see the USB as mounted. Did a previous clone but set the OS partition to maximum (no 23 GB free partition), and that is when I first noticed the USB issue. If I reconnect the A data cable, the USB functions normally.
Other than a somehow corrupted clone (Macrium showed clone was good) am I missing something? Clip from MiniTool Partition attached -- maybe this is next on list of options-- but I would like to know what I am doing wrong overall or specifically with Macrium. Perplexed that the connecting A enables USB.

Hello Grinder mate now you will always have just one C: drive if I am not terribly wrong then the clone of C: will not show up as C: unless the original (smaller drive) is disconnected because it is the drive that Windows goes looking for on power up.

Personally it would have been better forr you to post in point form ie
1. Installed 7 on 120GB drive
2 Connected the 240GB drive to board and cloned the 120GB to it
3 Detach 120Gb drive and boot form 240GB
4 USB problem etc etc

By the by the unallocated space you can extend the partition ahead of it by resizing the C: and S: partitions

Appreciate the response, will try to be succinct w/ Point/Bullet format.

0. Reference Win7 120 C SSD. Fully functional baseline.
1. Cloned C to 250 GB C' drive
2. Disconnected C, booted C' (C' mounts/shows itself as std "C:\" designation)
3. Std USB ports (2.0 and 3.0) fail, but USB Mouse and USB Keyboard functional
4. Reconnect original C, Boot to C' and all USB functionality, including 2.0/3.0 ports restored.
These points 1. through 4. define the problem sufficiently.
Auxiliary detail follows.

5. Debug Variations on above:

Cables/Ports
5.1 Swapped C and C' cables (debugging potentially bad cables/ports, or port priority in BIOS) = same results as above (3. and 4.).
Conclusion neither cables nor ports are the problem source.

Alternate Destination Drive
5.2 Cloned C to identical type C'' 120 GB SSD (to debug whether problem is new 250 GB SSD)
5.2.1 Disconnected C; Upgraded 120 GB C' to Win10
5.2.2 Booted Win 10 with C'', not 100% sure about USB functionality: *IIRC* same results as above (no USB ports unless C connected).
5.2.3 Recovered C'' from Win10 back to Win7, and as in bullets 3. and 4. above USB ports fail unless original C connected.
Conclusion new SSD C' is not the problem source.

Alternate Path thru Macrium Software
5.3 Restored 250 GB C' using Macrium External USB HD Image of C,
(may not have followed the exact path of macrium restore instructions, but got to bootable C')
5.3.1 same results originally seen (no USB ports unless C connected).
I suppose I could distrust the USB HD image, and retry with in internal SATA HD image, but the USB HD is fairly new/reliable.

Key observations:
There is some information on the original C drive which is not correctly passed on to clone drives or images.
However, regardless of whether the original C drive or the clone is the boot drive, the mere presence of the connected original C drive resolves the lack of USB port function.

Found a ticket on Macrium's Forums, so my problem is not unique.
USB Flash drives not recognised

Writing this up mainly for some other poor soul who might stumble into this.
Nothing against Macrium. I really liked the approach/documentation etc.

Yes well sounds like he clone didn't carry across the drivers for the USB ports to the clone so is there anything in Device manager or Programs and Features ton that clone o suggest there are issues with drivers for the USB.

Now worse comes to the worst then personally I would have cleaned the larger drive with DISKPART and re cloned as i don't like or I don't trust installing / cloning not drives hoping the data will be over written. Doesn't take long and worth a try.

Will need to pack in sleep soon to be clear-headed on my next go. That said:

Device manager, Disk Drives are normal in the original C, but C' Device mngr Disk Drive has the code -10 and yellow flag error.
Not sure I understand your question on Programs and Features. Will look tomorrow for obvious errors in P & F. (Using another PC right now.)

I think your recommendation to do a DISKPART clean of the C' is a very good idea, esp as results from some more work today say this isn't solely a Macrium problem.
1. Tried MiniTool Partion to clone -- no good, problems booting, gave up.
3. Went thru Win7 System Image recovery from a good system image of original C, this did not resolve the new larger C' USB problem. Figured this was a least common denominator using MSFT tools, so this failing says I'm missing something (double entendre intended).
2. Scared myself botching the prep for #3 above. Just Plain Dumb: Created a Win7 C systems image backup, then forgot to swap cables and wrote the file back to the original C drive, and the C USB ports then failed. Used Macrium rescue tools to correct boot blocks and the USB capability returned to drive C. Whewww! Note baseline image for recover in steps 2 and 3 above were both from the original C functioning normally as the boot drive.

Yep better done after a rest the P&F I meant looking ofr drivers for the USB.

Now if you want some really detailed info on your machine give this a run when you need in depth stuff especially when it comes to who the manufacturer is and model numbers etc I'll attach pics for an example .
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
IE
12v = 11.4v min to 12.6max
5v = 4.75v min 5.25v max
3.3v = 3.135v min to 3.465v max

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pics for example.

OMG.
Totally frustrated, I looked further in the forum and found this indicating the problem is the Samsung Magician S/W:
Usb drive not working after Samsung SSD 850 cloned
Learned (some relearned) useful things working your suggestions before realizing I needed to again take a step back. All HW in HW info looked good - USB drive is present in a port.
Going for a bike ride (O2 to the brain). Will report back later -- I think we likely have a solution in hand.

Hey Grinder that has just jogged my memory (whats left of it) I cannot think why I didn't think of it before - on my Ivy Bridge desktop build I lost all USB and card reader ports and after a month of me trying to fix it a really cluey member knew what it was in a flash as he had solved it before himself for another member.

The problem is with the Samsung Magician software - it can play a round with the system a bit and especially ports of one sort or another. Simple fix was to uninstall the Magician software and bingo the ports came back

Now you can also reinstall the Magician software back after the fix but to be honest for what it does I couldn't see the point so haven't used it since and nearly all my SSD's are Samsung.

Hopefully this is a fix for you:)

By the by my bike before I wrecked my shoulder was a '98 Yamaha Virago 1100cc Special V twin much the same as in my siggy at the bottom only mine had the works on it being a Special bar warmers, radio, saddle bags top box and all the grunt you could poke a stick at.
My bike is the smaller pic the larger pic is the same except fr a few add ons.
Me I am 5'3" so the Big Girl was a handful stationary LOL!!

Yes problem solved and I am very very happy. Yippee!.
Appreciate the help, hand-holding, and lessons; example HWinfo was a much more sophisticated/informative way to confirm hardware was good than swapping cables.

I wondered about the sig; love the tag line. FYI, I used to work in satellites and "LOL" was loss of lock meaning loss of attitude pointing (at the earth) also joking known as loss of luck. I worked with two teams of Aussie engineers and they were some of the best customers I ever met (technical, practical/rational, and pleasant personalities). My preferred daily driver is a mongrel 76 911 Targa (motorcycle with 4 wheels).

No probs mate the HW is very small and very handy the other PSU stuff is good for checking out the rail volts too if you suspect them as Scott Mueller points out they are more of a problem than people give it credit for so always one thing I head for usually.

My ride now is one of or probably the best car I have ever owned / driven a 2011 Mazda 6 sports hatchback re sporty and more important to me a great fuel economy (and Bose sound system).

If you haven't seen this Optimize Windows 7 it is my bible and the authour one of the greatest fellows I know and it will speed up and make your machines run more efficiency - if you don't mind losing some of the "bling" like transprancy.

Another if you haven't got it already is this CCleaner - Free Download - Piriform download only from piriform unless you like nagging LOL!! One tip though once you have run Analyse > Options > Cookies > and click on the sites you use with passwords - it will highlight and then click the arrow in the middle to send it to saved cookies on the right hand side or you will end up having to login on those sites.see pic

Anything else just ask.

Oh meant to add install this https://unchecky.com/ < stops those wretched add on things like the Ashkbar, Google toolbar etc
