Folders created after end of upgrade offer

I thought that the free W10 offer finished 2016-07-29.

Look what I found on my W7 OS partition:

Strange! You haven't downloaded the Media Creation Tool for either 8.1 or 10 have you? Those two folders are also created when those tools are run.

I did run the MCT back in April when I tried to download a W10 ISO.
However that tool is so badly designed (like a lot of W10 interfaces) that I ended up with the wrong version of W10.

I did run it recently (up to the "select your version" stage) to compare it with screenshots on TenForums.
It's possible that was on 2016-07-31, I'm not sure.

They must have been created when you ran the MCT. Those folders do get created early in the process. I haven't seen any other reports of those folders showing up from the free upgrade after July 29th.

    You are correct.

I just deleted the folders and then ran the MCT, whilst watching the C partition in Windows Explorer.

The MCT creates those folders as one of its very first actions (even before displaying the license preamble).

    Thanks Brds7t7. :)
