One guy commented he didn't realize that the BIOS update download, scjev130.exe, created so many files in a separate folder on the "C:" drive! In actuality 16 are created!

    This maybe a little clearer . . .

You will need a SECOND working laptop/computer to make this Toshiba C55 BIOS update CD/DVD!

When you download the file onto a different working laptop, "scjev130.exe", from here, "http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4005333" click on it and it will create a folder on your hard drive, "C:/scjev130"!

Go to that folder and click on "Launche.exe" it will bring up a menu that has "CD-Rom(also DVD) installation" !

Put in a blank CD "or" DVD and press "OK"!

When your BIOS update CD/DVD is burned/finished, remove it from the SECOND laptop, and put this BIOS UPDATE CD/DVD you created, into the non booting Toshiba unit and the C55 WILL boot up and display a command prompt. At that command prompt, type "FLASH" to update the BIOS to v1.30. Reboot the C55 and you press "F2" while the Toshiba boots up into BIOS setup. You will now have the option in the "ADVANCED menu to change UEFI to CSM. After you make that change to "CSM", press "F10" to save and exit! Now it will boot from your optical drive and let your Windows 7 OS (Operating System)install/setup DVD be recognized, boot up and install your OS of choice onto that laptop. (these laptops have 64 bit CPU's so choose a 64bit OS!)

Be aware that for some devices(Check in "Device Manager" for yellow"!" exclamation point devices) on the laptop it will be necessary to FIND and D/L new drivers for the OS you chose, in my case Windows 7 64 bit drivers! Those needed for installation are Network, Wireless, USB 3, Sound and Display ! The sound and display aren't really necessary as Win7 install disc will load generic drivers that will allow bootup and a desktop background with sound. BUT you will need the Ethernet network driver (aka LAN) and the wireless driver (aka WLAN)!
