    Can't access my win7 ultimate

    I'm using a multi-boot pc, winxp, win7 and win10.
My HD is ailing, and I plan to replace it, and managed to bring back to life all my OSs but Win7 (Ultimate).
I can access win7 in Safe Mode, but standard mode shows an uncomplete screen, with no icons on it but my trash can. (See attached pic)

I checked my event log while on safe mode, but looks like the only relevant information refers to failure to start services which are not available on safe mode.

What should I do in order to break this startup blocking?

    Just to clarify:
I tried the following suggested remedies:
    1. Deactivated all non-microsoft services thru msconfig.
    2. Ran a startup repair.
    3. Tried a "Restore", but no prior date was available for restoration.
None of those solved my problem.

In addition, I tried to fetch a startup disk from Microsoft. To my disappointment, even though my windows is legitimate, a fresh startup disk is not available. The original disk was bought thru my university, but it's code isn't honored neither as an academic setting nor as organizational. The original disk is still in my holdings, but it's not updated, since it doesn't include SP2.

If your Windows 7 disk has SP-1 you should be okay because Windows 7 does not have SP-2.

You could have a problem activating Windows 7 unless you have the proper COA key.

It seems that you have a failed driver as you can boot on safe mode but not in normal mode. You mentioned that your drive is ailing.
BACKUP your data. Maybe your drive is dying.
Did you do a check disk? Does it has bad blocks?
Boot on safe mode, open Device Manager and look for missing drivers.

My problem with the win7 disk isn't activation. It has long ago been activated. My problem is that no action is allowed with this disk from within Safe Mode.

Thanks Megahertz07. I checked my win7 Device Manager, and all drivers are updated and operative, no exclamation signs.

    Did you ran check disk?
If your drive is dying you're going to find bad blocks and you have to replace your disk ASAP.

Try to create another account. If it can boot normally to this new account, something is corrupted on your account.

I tried, created a new user, but still got stuck on the same panel, not even reaching the option of choosing a user.
Looks like, my problem isn't caused by a faulty user.
Wonder what else can it be.
