    Can't get past welcome screen


    The problem started last month. I could not get past the windows welcome screen. But my laptop started fine in safe mode. Since I couldn't find any solution, I reinstalled windows. It was working fine for a month, but again today the same problem started. At first I started check disc for C drive from Safe mode, after which Windows loaded fine. But after I restarted my laptop, it got stuck in the welcome screen. I have tried everything, but nothing is working. Please help.

    Since you can get into Safe Mode that typically means its some service that's running from some program installed (usually third party).

    Try the guide below and see if you can pinpoint the problem
    Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

    In case you need help with getting in and out of Safe Mode while troubleshooting

    You said that once you run check disk for C drive from Safe mode, after which Windows loaded fine. Did it fixed something on the drive?
    As Gator said, it can be a wrong driver, but it also can be a disk failure.
    Back up your data on an external disk.
    From your Win 7 installation disk, run chkdsk c: /r. If it finds bad sectors and/or blocks, your disk is dying.
