Installing WIN7 on new laptop freezes at "STARTING WINDOWS".
TL;DR: New laptop with Linpus Linux, can't install Windows from bootable USB, [title] among errors.
Hi. I'm quite desperate to make a forum post, so please help me, as I've been googling and trying all I could for the last 5 hours.
FIRST:
Bought new laptop(ACER ASPIRE E 15) and it came with a preinstalled Linpus Linux(no GUI), which has no DVD tray - so I have to install Windows through a bootable USB stick.
However, this is not the problem, as I've made a lot of bootable USB sticks before and never encountered these problems.
So, the problems:
- Trying to normally bootup results in windows doing some "Loading files" for a few seconds then going into "Starting windows" and the animation freezes after less than a second.
- Trying to install windows in LEGACY MODE only allows me to pick between Linpus Linux (3.4.46) and Create a bootable USB disk - it does not detect the bootable USB.
- Trying to boot with F12 gives the same animation freeze problem.
WHAT I'VE TRIED SO FAR(so you don't suggest things I've already done)
- disabled safe boot
- disabled 3.0 usb port
- enabled legacy mode
- went back to UEFI mode
- tried both FAT32 and NTFS file systems
- tried a different USB port
- plugged out any other device except for the bootable USB stick
I'm using RUFUS 2.11 and I will try with a different copy of Windows and a different stick after I get some sleep, so if you've got other ideas aside from those, please comment.
I am currently trying out the method in this link(Install Windows 7 On Acer Aspire One), I will return after I finish.
P.S. I've tried booting on the PC(the one I'm typing from right now) and it only showed an underline blipping, and just that - it did not boot. So I'm guessing I did not boot correctly(even though it might be because I booted for UEFI systems?). If you know what the cause of this might be, then you may actually help me solve it all!
