The correct way to install windows 7 64bit on Dell XPS 8910 machine

    Hello,

I got a Dell XPS 8910 with the i7-6700k which comes with Windows 10 installed.
I would like to install windows 7 any with any X32 or X64 bit.

What I did is installed windows 7 ultimate with X64 bit.
The problem I got was during the installation there is no keyboard and there is no mouse working !! and I solve the problem as following :

1- If you have bootable windows 7 usb drive JUMB THIS STEP.
OR You have to make bootable windows 7 usb drive. ( any version you like ).
to do that have windows 7 ISO file and use powerISO software (PowerISO - Create, Burn, Mount, Edit, Compress, Encrypt, Split, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter, Virtual Drive) to make one.
google the internet for this method or any other method to make one.

2 - download Windows 7* USB 3.0 Creator Utility for the windows you are using now (Download Windows 7* USB 3.0 Creator Utility)

3 - plug the bootable windows 7 usb drive in your PC and run the Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility as administrator.

4 - when the utility start, choose the USB drive path (bootable windows 7 usb drive) and click on creat Image.

when it done. that all !

Take the bootable windows 7 usb drive and use it with Dell XPS 8910 to install windows 7 from usb port as usual.

This method work for me after week of pain :) , Now I have installed windows 7 ultimate on Dell XPS 8910 instead of windows 10 and the problem was no keyboard or mouse working during the installation of windows 7 but after these steps everything works fine with usb keyboard and usb mouse.

I hope this can help somebody facing the same problem.

Happy New Year from Saudi Arabia.

    Regards,

Thank you for sharing. Did you install win7 on the HDD or on the M.2 drive?
We had a similar treat here. He wanted to install on the M.2 drive and was no driver for it.

In fact, during the installation I found many drivers, I deleted all of them to end up with just two drivers, 256GB ( I think it is SSD ) and 1.8GB ( HDD ). I have choose to install it on the 256GB.
The installation divided it to ( system reserve and OS) and format it.

The system is running fine and the 1.8GB is a storage now :)

after installation I got some problems with the wireless and some drivers.
to know which devices you have problem with do the following

start -> type "system information" -> components -> problem devices

I have installed a tool from intel called "Intel Driver Update Utility Installer" from this link

    Intel(R) Driver Update Utility

after I run it on my Dell 8910 computer it downloaded many drivers and my wireless works :) :) and many devices problems fixed.

    from

start -> type "system information" -> components -> problem devices

check the rest of the problems. some drivers needed stated by name and you need to find them online.
some unknown but show something like VEN_1B21&DEV_1242

use these information in this web site to find the correct driver

How to identify an unknown device (e.g. Wireless LAN module)?

I hope everything is well now :) :)

When I start windows update I got an error number "80072ee2" .

I tried every thing over the net but with no luck but I solved the problem as following :

(If you couldn't install any file or take long time, restart your PC and try again).

1 - download and install "Microsoft HotFix"
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2920188

2 - download and install "Windows Update Agent"
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104

3 - download and install the following files for windows 7 X64

if you are using X86, you need the following files for windows 7 X86

    The last step is

4 - go to start and in search box write "services.msc" for X64 or "services.exe" for X86 and hit "enter"

under the name look for "windows update", click on "Stop" on the left side.

Go to "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" directory and delete all the files inside.

    5 - restart your computer.

6 - run "windows update" and wait .

This method fixed my Dell XPS 8910 windows 7 X64 update problem "80072ee2". and the windows update works as it should be.

The windows update installed all the rest drivers for windows 7 X64 to work correctly on Dell XPS 8910 including the video driver.

My Dell XPS 8910 with windows 7 X64 is perfect now :) :) :) , and I hope this post can help someone in this world.

    Greeting from Saudi Arabia ..
