New Hard Drive in Laptop and need assistance installing Win 7

I have a Toshiba Satellite P875-S7102 Laptop running an Intel i7 processor and 4GB memory. The original HD stopped booting and I have two New in Box Hard Drives I will install in this laptop.

I intend to make a SanDisk SSD Plus 120GB as the boot drive with only Windows 7 installed on it.

The second internal will be a WD Absolutely internal 1TB Hard Drive. (The Laptop has two internal HD slots.) The system I will install is Windows 7 Ultimate which I have on a CD.

Having never done this before I thought Id ask you experts precisely how to accomplish this task without shooting myself in the foot.

For those kind enough to reply and assist let me say, "Thanks!"

Hello FirstShirt,

If you have your Windows 7 product key, then you could use the method in the tutorial below to do a clean install of Windows 7 to the SSD.

On BIOS, you must set Secure boot to disable and set CSM to enabled.

As you have one small SSD and a big HDD, use Kari tutorial to install the OS and programs on the SSD and move \Users to the HDD. User Profiles - Create and Move During Windows 7 Installation

I have a 128G SSD with Win7 and Linux and moved \Users to the HDD.

Below are the files you need to move \Users to D:
w7hp.xml - Edit to match your needs (follow Kari tutorial)
sysprep.cmd.txt - Edit to match your needs (follow Kari tutorial) and then rename to sysprep.cmd

I presume I can reinstall all my software to the 2nd drive (1TB) while keeping only the Win 7 operating files, updates, etc on the SSD. My intent is to segregate the operating files of Win 7 to the SSD and everything else defaulted to the 1TB Drive.

If the software gives you the option to select where to install it during installation, you could easily do so.

Keep programs (Program files and Program files(86) and program data on C: so they open fast.
Only move \Users to D: and install on D: programs that has daily updates as antivirus, Firefox etc

I would post a pix of the other computer's screen (the laptop I'm installing to) but for some reason I can't load a screenshot or any other photo file on this Forum. And yes, I have been schooled over and over by responders as to how it is done. But for some reason when I scroll the mouse over the paperclip icon and press the left mouse button, nothing happens. No box opens, no dropdown menu. That goes for the "Manage Attachements" too.

Anyway, when asked where I want to install Windows there is a list of 5 Disk 0 Partition selections. 1 is OEM (Reserved), 2 is System, 3 is MSR (Reserved), 4 is Dynamic, 5 is Unallocated Space.

Unallocated Space is the logical selection, but when I highlight it as the selection then press "Next" nothing happens.

Go Advanced - Manage Attachments- Browse - upload

Did you attached the HDD? If you did, remove it. Leave on the laptop only the SSD.
You said that it was a new SSD. How come it has those partitions?

With only the SSD installed:

On BIOS disable fast boot and Secure boot (or OS=other). Enable CSM

Boot from the installation disk. Go to Install - Advanced- delete ALL partitions - create new and proceed.

Yes, the "other" HD was in the laptop. I took it out and the screen no longer mentions the drive. Why the SSD has partitions must be due to the Windows Setup installation. It now only illustrates 4 on the list now. However, I still can not advance beyond this screen.

Isn't it great how easy it is to work with Microsoft products?

P.S., I have been schooled on how to post graphics on this Forum, many, many times. I have been provided link after link to Tutorials on how to do it. It does not function for me.
