Failed Drive replaced-new one fails

    You must constantly keep tapping (quickly) on the needed key for entering the bios or boot menu. F2, F8 or Delete are examples. I have no idea what keys (compaq) uses but it should show on screen when you boot.

    Just holding the key down or hitting it once will not get the job done.

    Hi - thanks for input. I do know that you must repeatedly hit one of those keys - Believe me I did. Moot point at this point. I took it to Staples and all back. Thanks.
