hi was wondering if i could get any tips or advice, i keep getting bsod error message when trying to install xp, it looks like i have to install the sata drivers, i think i have to slipstream the driver with xp as from my post here, but i cant find the sata driver for my toshiba hard drive anywhere. Hi. You don't have to slipstream.

You do need the SATA driver though, available on floppy, CD, DVD or a hard drive not attached to SATA (like IDE.)

I believe this is what you're looking for. it will make a floppy for you so you can have that when installing XP. Hold down f6 (I think, from memory) when it asks during install if you need to install other drivers.

I think it will work from a CD but not entirely sure. My strong guess is yes, as long as the CD/DVD drive in not attached to a SATA port and is IDE drive instead.

I gave you the correct link above. I edited my post before with it.

You'd be better off putting the driver on a USB key then. That definitely doesn't use SATA.

It's probably because you didn't extract from the downloaded file. That file is supposed to make a floppy. Just placing it on USB will not work.
