One easy way to update all your drivers is to use a 16GB USB drive on a different computer that already has internet access and download SDI full. This will put every windows driver on the flash drive, then you move the flash drive over to your laptop and take it from there. You will need to have utorrent or any torrent downloader in order to do the download. I just tried it on my machine and its a ten minute download using my xfinity isp, but ymmv. pretty handy.

I don't yet have internet access on the Satellite laptop because I have yet to find the LAN driver for that model. Is that included in this SDI or will it simply try to access the internet to download the drivers? What, exactly is this SDI?

I'm DLing SDI now, but the weather (overcast, rain) making it slow. Plenty of Seeds/Peers but satellite is obscured.

If you are on a slow connection you can always UNcheck the files for video, printers, and sound, at least for now. See the pic, which is sorted by file size. That will reduce the download by about 90%. Once you have an internet connection working, windows update may find the rest of your drivers for you. And/or, again once you have the internet working, SDI lite is more specific to your machine and will only download what you need. But since we did not know your ethernet/LAN adapter, SDI was an easy way to start.

But if in case your connection is super slow, you can forget SDI altogether and just do a start > run > msinfo32 > components > problem devices, which will show your problem devices (duh), of which you will have many. One of them will say LAN or ethernet and have a device ID string next to it. If you google that device ID, you will learn what brand ethernet adapter you have, and can then search to find its win7 driver.
