Screen stays in sleep mode but computer boot normally. whats going on?

pc specs

windows 7 64 bit professional
16 gig ram
core i 3 processor

1.8 tb hdd hard drive

asus motherboard (unable tor determine the model number)

the computer is connected to the monitor with a vga cable. i use the integrated graphics card of the motherboard to the monitor.

after adjusting the screen resulotion to 1600 x 900 and changing the aspect ratio using the intel adapter options available from the drop down menu on the desktop i now after swithing the compuyer on this morning the monitor stays in sleep mode.

what can i do to fix this?

i am unable to see anything on the screen if i pull out the vga cable and put it back the screen says sleep mode active.

Windows 7 HP 64

Check on BIOS if the internal graphics is primary and enabled.

Will do. Right from the get go the screen doesn't even show the bios options when booting. It doesn't even respond to f8 to get in via safe mode.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit sp1

What make is the monitor. Can you access the monitor set up from the monitor. Do you have an instruction manual for the monitor, if so read through & see if you can change monitor settings on the monitor itself, rather that trying to use the computer to set it up.
