Is this the right approach for a truly clean install?

    When the system had installed from the original DVD it was painfully slow and it often crashed even after I flashed the BIOS.
    I at no time connected to the internet or did any updates, could that be part of the cause.
    With the MS disk is it best to connect to the Internet and let it get updates during the installation?

    The thing is that when I am installing the DVD that came with the laptop, when I hit enter on a screen it is VERY slow getting to the next screen. When I am at the management console setting up the new partitions takes a minute or so to create the new partition, it seems like it is hanging but in fact it is not. On previous systems I have installed it was just a couple of seconds.

    Is there anything I can do initially then that will correct whatever is making it so slow on installing, and come to that, so slow after the installation is complete please.

    Just doing another install from the original DVD and on the screen to accept the license terms down the bottom it says:
    EULAID:Win7SP1_RM.2_HP_OEM_en-us

    Could this be the problem?

    What drivers do you think I need to install from my drivers DVD please?

    The Fujitsu disk that came with the computer has all drivers in it. When it finish installation, all you need to do is to install the updates. Only problem is it comes with a lot of useless features and programs. A install with M$ disk gives you an installation with only the OS, but you have to install all drivers and sometimes aren't easy to obtain.

    The fact your computer is slow, has nothing to do with Fujitsu disk. Add to the fact it can't finish the M$ installation, I would say you have a hardware issue. Probably a failing disk.
    Don't you have another disk?

    I have downloaded and run something Fujitsu (my new laptop maker) call DeskUpdate. It found quite a few drivers, mice and other pointing devices, otherdevices, network adapters & software which I downloaded and installed. Unfortunatelly it is still extremely slow.

    I thought I would download the Windows updates to see if that has an impact as per your instruction in a previous post. Am I right in saying that this is the correct way to install updates on a fresh Windows 7 install?

    First install:
    KB3125574 (that contain all the security and non-security fixes released since the release of Windows 7 SP1 that are suitable for general distribution, up through April 2016.)

    Then install:
    KB3020369

    Followed by:
    KB3172605

    Then install IE 11 and Reboot.
    Then install the following in the order below:
    KB3020369
    KB3125574
    KB3172605

    Then download the .msu for the following:
    - October 16 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - November 16 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - December 16 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - January 17 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - March 17 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - April 17 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - May 17 - Microsoft Update Catalog
    - June 17 - Microsoft Update Catalog

    Then enable and run Windows update to get the rest of the updates.

    One question please. You say to enable the Windows update after installing I.E.11 but before installing the Security ONLY updates (I assume you mean KB3172605)using the .msu files, is that correct please?

    Hi Megahertz07,

    I unfortunately don't have another disk and money is tight at the moment.

    I have tried quite a few things to find out what the problem is with the laptop being extremely slow etc and constantly crashing so I thought I would start a more descriptive thread outlining what I have done and the results obtained later today or tomorrow.

    If you could just let me know if the correct way to update my computer with Windows Updates prior to running it is as I have stated above please I would be grateful.

    Go to Services - Windows Update - Manual.
    Download and install IE 11 - IE 11
    Reboot

    With IE 11, download KB3020369, KB3125574 and KB3172605
    Install:
    KB3020369 is first
    KB3125574 is second
    KB3172605 is last. (this one is important)
    Go to Services - Windows Update - Enable.

    If you wish to install only secure updates, install the older fist.

    I can't seem to download Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 x64 from within your post.
    I have tried several times and although it says downloading it doesn't actually do anything.

    Is it alright to download it from here?:

    Are the updates from May 2016 to September 2016 included in the October 16 .msu update?
