Installing Updates

Regarding Windows 7 ( All Versions ).
During the Early stages of Install I have Noted these 5 Notices of Progress;--
1-- Copying Windows Files.
2--Getting Files Ready for Installation.
3--Installing Features.
4--Installing Updates.
5--Finishing Up.
I am interested in No.4 ( Installing Updates ).
And I use Slip-Streaming to try and maintain an updated install.
Where are the Updates coming from that MS is Installing at this Early Stage of Installation.
Lets Say I tried a Genuine DVD of Windows 7 that was Say 5 Years Old, it would be impossible for any DVD to Contain Any Updates from the Day it was Made to the Current Date.
In MS Office 2010 there is an Updates Folder where you can put Updates, Provided they are of the correct Format ( MSP ) .
So I am wondering if that Same Procedure is being used here, because one could do the same in windows 7 and simply Re-Burn your ISO.
Looking forward to some info on this.

I only install the updates after all drivers are installed and device manager shows no alerts.
